What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?:
I got involved with the Iditarod after learning about it from a colleague who took her son, actually, and volunteered on the trail. My son is a sports admin major at Ball State, and I thought this would be a wonderful experience just for him to gain not only as a resume builder, but just a life experience as well. I wanted to prepare him for the world, obviously as a parent, and I thought this would just be a wonderful experience for us to do together.
What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?
I am here today and involved with the Iditarod because I believe that volunteering and giving back is important, but if I can also instill that in my son and give him a life experience, that’s why I’m here today.
Tell me about your most memorable Iditarod experiences?:
One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences is being here today. This is my first year. I’m just excited to be here and experience this incredible sport.
What do you know for sure?:
One thing I know for sure in life is that it is full of experiences and helps us gain knowledge of other people, places, and just helps us become more well-rounded and accepting of those with us. And I hope that’s just something that my son can walk away with being here with me today as part of that experience.
