What is your Why?.. Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?:
WHAT BASICALLY KEPT ME COMING BACK WAS JUST THE AMAZEMENT THAT THESE HUMANS AND THESE ANIMALS CAN DO THIS. AND WHO DOES IT AND HOW DO THEY DO IT; AND JUST WATCHING IT ALL HAPPEN. IT’S BEEN AMAZING. PLUS ALL THE PEOPLE I’VE MET EVERY YEAR.
Tell me about your most rewarding experience on Iditarod?:
THAT’S HARD AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. I HAVE HAD AMAZING TRIPS WITH IDITAROD AIR FORCE IN BEAUTIFUL ALASKAN-EXPERIENCE SCENERY. AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT SEEING THE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN ’89, THE CURTAINS OF RED FROM IDITAROD CHECKPOINT, AND THE SWIRLING ONES OVERHEAD AT WHITE MOUNTAIN AT THAT CHECKPOINT, WERE UNBELIEVABLE. BUT OVER ALL OF THAT, I WOULD HAVE TO SAY, I MET MY HUSBAND WORKING THE RACE. HE WAS AN IDITAROD PILOT IN ’91. AND, YEP, WE’RE TOGETHER AND LIVING IN HAWAII. AND THAT PRETTY MUCH TOPS IT, I GUESS.
What do you know for sure?:
I KNOW THAT NOTHING IS FOR CERTAIN AND THAT EVERYTHING CHANGES, SO YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN THE MOMENT AND BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT YOU’RE GIVEN.
