What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with Iditarod in 2018 through the missions outreach organization called Graceworks based out of Anchorage. I came up from North Carolina, Scott Kirby led us here to Willow.

What is your Why?..Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?

I’m here today and involved with Iditarod because I love working with dogs and the animals. I have done it every year, and it’s just a really awesome experience. And I come from the South where we don’t get very much snow, so it’s great to be able to come up and play in a couple of feet of snow each year.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences?

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was last year. I got to ride in the ceremonial start with a rookie musher and got to ride 11 miles; fell over on the sled, but that made it interesting and it was a really great experience.

What do you know for sure?:

What I know for sure in life is that it won’t always be easy, but it will be worth it, much like being out here in the lot, in the deep snow on a cold day. But the Lord gives me strength to do it and I have a passion to get up and go where He calls me to go.
