What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with Iditarod very young. I don’t remember which age, because every year they come through Nikolai. But it was always fun. I remember when they’d park around the school and mushers would come to the school and talk with us, like Susan Butcher. Or Martin coming in with sled loads of coloring books and stuff for the kids.

What is your Why?..Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?

I’m here today and involved with Iditarod because I’ve always loved checking and seeing the teams come in; getting to interact with mushers.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences?

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was, I think, when I was a lot younger. I remember staying with my uncle and auntie up on the hill. And it was when the mushers could still stay at people’s houses. I just remember like coming downstairs and the smell and everybody talking about their trips so far; dogs outside.

What do you know for sure?:

What I know for sure in life is that dogs will always be a part of my life, and Alaska; I love it here.
