What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

How I got involved in Iditarod? I think four years ago, I was working for a musher. And she invited Cindy Gallea, former Iditarod musher, to come help with a trip. Cindy and I hit it off, and I told her if she ever decided to run Iditarod again, and wanted a handler, she should call me. And I got a call the next year, and she didn’t end up running the race that year, but she sent me up here to work on the trail.

What is your Why?..Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?

I’m here today and involved with Iditarod because the people and the place are absolutely incredible. And I love running dogs, that’s my baseline, but to put it above and beyond… are the people we meet along the way and become friends with, and then the places we get to see as well.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences is hopefully still to come. Damon Ramaker is running the team that I’ve trained this year, and I hope to see him come to know him here in a week or so.
