What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with the Iditarod through my grandfather. He has been maybe over 40 years of checkpointing and all that with Mark Cox, and it was in McGrath. So that’s kind of how I got involved with it.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with the Iditarod because as a musher and a handler and a kennel, it helps me build to be a better musher and understand how much the volunteers put into the work, and it makes me be a better person when I come into a checkpoint, and it helps me produce a better attitude with all volunteers. And I know how much work they are doing, so I definitely appreciate them when I come into checkpoints.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was maybe shaking hands with Lance Mackey just because he has beat cancer quite a bit and he’s still doing this today with all, probably, the radiation has been put through. And it’s just kind of awesome just seeing someone that’s strong and motivated to keep doing the Iditarod year and year. So, he’s definitely one of my mentors.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that there are definitely people that are good in this world that does a lot of positive stuff, for the Iditarod and anything in general.
