What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?
I first became involved with Iditarod as a kid. I grew up in a mushing family. My mom was the first woman from Europe to run Iditarod. My grandpa ran Iditarod and we had several folks who came and worked at my family’s kennel and used our dogs to also run Iditarod. And so, I had a fascination with it from a really early age. As a school kid growing up in Alaska, we followed the Iditarod racers, like DeeDee and Martin. Libby Riddles, my own mom, were definitely my heroes growing up. And that was how I got my start.
What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?
I am here today and involved with Iditarod because I signed up for the 50th running of the race.
Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.
One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was learning the difference between a dog that runs up front and a real lead dog. My lead dog, Ruby, taught me the difference on the Iditarod trail.
What do you know for sure?
What I know for sure in life is the weather will be different 15 minutes from now.
