What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with the Iditarod 10-12 years ago when I was hauling away the used dog straw from the Finger Lake checkpoint.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I’m here today involved with the Iditarod because I’m still working at Winterlake Lodge. It’s a family run business, and I’m a part of the family. Married to Mandy Dixon. The Dixon’s own Winterlake Lodge.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was when I was first dating Mandy, I came out here for an Iditarod and we decided to go for a snow machine ride. Turns out, we went down the Iditarod trail onto oncoming Iditarod traffic, and the musher screamed at us and we didn’t know what we were doing. And that was my most memorable experience.

What do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that tomorrows aren’t promised.
