What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first got involved with Iditarod 20 plus years ago. My parents have a cabin that isn’t far from Yentna Station Lodge.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I’m here today involved with Iditarod because I absolutely enjoyed the Iditarod my entire life, so getting an opportunity to come out and volunteer at a checkpoint is just amazing to me.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was when Jean, the owner of the lodge, came down to the checkpoint where we were and got caught on one of the musher’s anchors and drugged through the checkpoint. It was terrifying, and we laugh about it now, but it definitely made it memorable.

What do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that we are all going to die someday, so we need to make every moment memorable and enjoyable for ourselves.
