What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with the Iditarod in the eighth grade when my English teacher introduced us to the Call of the Wild. When she did this as a project for our class, she also told us about the Iditarod and about Doug Swingley. So from then I’ve always been interested in attending the Iditarod, and after that I found out that you can volunteer, so here I am now.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with the Iditarod because the people and the animals are absolutely amazing. I love to see how all of these people come together from around the world to put on such a great race and to deal with all of the logistics that are involved with getting everyone to all of these checkpoints and then back again so they get home.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences is flying in the bush planes over the Alaskan landscape and getting to see the beautiful ice and snow.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that nothing is ever certain and you can never give too many hugs to the people that you love.
