What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with the Iditarod this year because Mike Owens is actually an alum of the university that I attend in Tennessee. And so he is in contact with leaders at my school, and we got a group together and we came down just this week, and this is my first year.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with the Iditarod because honestly it’s just been something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve grown up watching it on TV. It just seems so far away, back in Tennessee. And so being here and actually seeing the mushers and the dogs, has just been an incredible experience. One that I always wanted to have.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was this morning when we got to drive out about four miles and follow in Dallas Seavey as he was coming down the final stretch. We got to see him talking to his dogs and just trying to get that last stretch in.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that it’s short, and you just have to take advantage of every opportunity you get, because you never know when the next one is going to come along.
