What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with the Iditarod after I met Tom Jamgochian, who at the time was a state district attorney in Nome, Alaska. He ran the Iditarod in 2016, took me through his kennels and since then I have been involved.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am in Anchorage, Alaska, today because I am an IditaRider. After the Restart in Willow, I am going to fly out and watch the riders go through the Rainy Pass checkpoint.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences:

My most memorable Iditarod experience was in 2022. I was in Hanna Lyrek’s sled. She is from northern Norway. After we got on the open space trail, she stopped the sled. I thought she was going to let the dogs rest. However, she asked me if I wanted to drive the sled. She got in the basket and I was the musher.

What in life do you know for sure?

You need to enjoy today, because you never know when your time is up. Enjoy life and be kind to other people and animals.
