What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with Iditarod last year. In vet school we had a musher come through and talk to us about the importance of the nutrition for the dogs with Iditarod and how much they eat and their training requirements. It always sounded amazing and I just always thought that would be such an awesome experience to be able to see firsthand these amazing dogs in action.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with Iditarod because this is an amazing adventure. It’s a part of history that we get to experience over and over again every year. Not only that, but we get to see the incredible bond between the mushers, the staff that care for them, and the dogs, and to see these great animals and athletes in their element.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable moments of Iditarod was being at Ophir last year in negative 60 degree weather. That was a challenge and an adventure, and it was amazing to see the teams come together to support the mushers and the groups as they came through.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that it’s made up of experiences and that you should take the opportunity to grab these experiences as they come to you and live life to the fullest.
