What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with the Iditarod in 2010, and I was here from 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. And I had some family issues and I came back in 2020. What brought me here originally was that 25 years ago I had friends that moved to Wasilla that worked the Iditarod. And at that time they were using amateur radio operators. And I’m an amateur radio operator as well as a veterinarian. And they said, “You need to come up here.” Well, a little bit of delay and time in life and I finally made it. And I’m addicted.

What is your Why?..Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with the Iditarod because I’m insane and I’m addicted. 

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences?

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences – there’s been several over the years, so I’ll go with the most recent one. It was at a checkpoint, they had food like a five-star hotel, I was blown away.
