What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with the Iditarod, with a few of the guys that I work with back in Washington, Kevin Bodie and Philip Townson, have been talking to me about it on shows that we were doing, and they needed someone and called me and I was available. So I thought, what the heck? It’s an adventure that I’ve never done before. Never been to Alaska. So I went ahead and did it.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I’m here today and involved with Iditarod because I was really excited about the adventure of it and having never been to Alaska. I know a lot of people that have been, and it’s always been on my bucket list to be able to do. And even though I left loved ones back in Washington, I packed up and wanted to do it. And they were very excited for me. So here I am.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was actually the celebration [ceremonial] start, just finally getting to see it all, being able to see the dogs up close, shooting them as they ran by in slow motion and so on. And everything since then has been very memorable, from flying from checkpoint to checkpoint, to getting the mushers coming in and getting to interact with them and seeing their dogs, how they treat them. It’s all been a very, very memorable experience.

What in life do you know for sure?

One thing I know for sure in life, is that the only things that you regret are the chances you don’t take.
