What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?:

I first got involved with Iditarod as a teenager after learning about the race in school and somehow convinced my parents to let me get a couple of sled dogs. Here we are 11 years later and I’m running my rookie Iditarod.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

 

I’m running the Iditarod because this is something I have worked for since I was a teenager. I’ve built my kennel the last 11 years. A lot of the dogs that I have, I’ve raised myself and this is just something we do. This is what we love to do and travel down the trail together and take on tough challenges and accomplish big things together.

Tell me about your most memorable Iditarod experiences?:

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was getting to come up in 2018 and run the junior Iditarod and then getting to meet all of the mushers that were running that year at the banquet. And it’s a little bit like meeting your favorite celebrities or these heroes that you sort of, as a kid, grow up watching. And it was pretty amazing to get to actually meet some people in person and know that one day I was going to be one of those mushers.

What do you know for sure?:

One thing I know for sure in life is that I have some pretty amazing dogs that will go to the ends of the earth for me. And I know that we have lots of fun together and I hope to be doing this as long as we all enjoy doing this.
