What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with the Iditarod 11 years ago because a very good friend that I, had recently met, Cindy Fritts, her husband had passed away and we were doing a memorial in Skwentna for him during the Iditarod. So that brought me to Skwentna.

What is your Why?.. Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with the Iditarod because, for one, I do believe it’s an Alaskan tradition, two, just the experience, meeting the people and then being in Skwentna and watching all the mushers come in. And the checkpoint that I have been involved with, there’s been a lot of, I’m calling them famous people for Iditarod, at least to me. Joe Delia, Rob Fritts. And all the mushers would come in and they would honor us doing this and being there for Joe Delia at his checkpoint – is how I look at it. And it’s just been such a gratifying experience, I can’t tell you. And then to watch those dogs come in at 9:30, 10 O’clock at night, it’s just an unbelievable experience.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences?:

One of my most memorable experiences with Iditarod, I have to say, it’s every single year. It’s a memorable experience. It’s something that I will never forget, it’s kinda in my blood. I would never rave these dogs, but I love serving the ones that do. What I know for sure in life is, the way I wanna be treated is the way I wanna treat everybody that I get involved with that I meet and I like serving and I hope I do it with a gratifying heart.

What do you know for sure?:

What I know for sure in life is, the way I wanna be treated is the way I wanna treat everybody that I get involved with that I meet and I like serving and I hope I do it with a gratifying heart.
