What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first got involved with Iditarod because of an ad I seen on the TV in 1980. A musher named Susan Butcher was having some kind of difficulties, and I called to see if I could assist with my ski plane. And when I called, I got ahold of Dick Mackey. And you don’t volunteer anything around Dick, he’ll have you volunteered the rest of your life, so that started it.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I was involved with Iditarod so long because of the camaraderie of the friends in the villages and your brother pilots. I had a lot of fun along the trail. I flew Jeff several years, and distributed Christian movies along the trail, which was kind of cool. I just enjoyed it.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable experiences, an Iditarod experience, was 39 years of basically having fun with friends.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is…God is good and life is short.
