What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I was involved with the Iditarod since about 1991 when we moved up here. My role is anything and everything. I’m a banquet coordinator, I go on the trail, I do lots of stuff. I first became involved with the Iditarod way back in ’91 when we moved up here from the East Coast. I did the phone room on the graveyard shift, that’s how I started off, and volunteering ever since then doing anything and everything I can.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I’m here with the Iditarod today and involved with the Iditarod because I am the banquet coordinator for the volunteers and tonight’s the banquet night.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was the first time I went out on the trail at Rainy Pass, it was awesome. I did everything trail wise, scooped the poop, did all that good stuff. And like I said, I’ve been back ever since doing anything, food drop, food, things, anything that I’m doing, phone room.

What do you know for sure?

One thing I know for sure in life is it’s unpredictable and go for the gusto and do everything you can right now, don’t wait until tomorrow.
