What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with the Iditarod this year. Well, actually four years ago. My wife came up here with a friend to volunteer and she’s been doing it since then, and I finally decided it was time for me to come up here and become part of it.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with the Iditarod because, number one, I’ve always wanted to be in Alaska. This is my 48th state. I’ve got two left. But mostly I wanted to see the state, I wanted to see the people and get out to the checkpoints to see the people and just be part of something that’s a lot bigger than me.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences:

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences is just how incredibly friendly and accommodating and open all of the people are with whom I’ve come in contact with the Iditarod.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that I’m going to die, that I’m going to pay taxes, and that I have to do laundry.
