What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

This is my first year being involved with the Iditarod, now that I have won Miss America 2022 there have been so many experiences that come with it and this being one of them, although I have watched the Iditarod almost every year since I was little.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with Iditarod because I will be singing the National Anthem at tonight’s event, and I will also be attending a number of events with Senator Murkowski over the next few days, including the ceremonial start.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was going to watch the race happening out in the woods with my dad and my two brothers when I was little. It was one of my favorite experiences. I think we went to McDonald’s after and got some food, but it was wonderful to spend some quality time with my family while watching the dogs race.

What do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that there is meaning in being inclusive and empathetic. I think in today’s world where there’s so much division it’s so important that we remain open-minded and we live a life driven by inclusion and empathy, because it’s something that everyone could benefit from and that will ultimately unite us as a whole.
