What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first got involved with the Iditarod when Joe and I became good friends and he kept talking about the long distance races of the past. And with Tom Johnson, we called Joe on the phone and asked if we could help him start the Iditarod and this was in October 1972. The rest of it is history.

What was one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences?

The most memorable Iditarod experience was when we finally got the money together to pay off the mushers in Nome.

What does the 50th running of the Iditarod mean to you?

This is the 50th Iditarod, makes me feel quite old.

What do you know for sure?:

What I know for sure in life is that it’s very uncertain.
