What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with the Iditarod as a first grader, when I learned about the race from my teacher. I was really interested in the Balto cartoon, so she pointed me in the direction of the Iditarod race and I became an insider ever since and have been avidly following the race. I first came to Alaska in 2018 to run Nic Petit’s dogs. Yeah, I run Ramey’s now, but maybe we can answer that later.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I’m here today and involved with the Iditarod because I love dogs more than anything else. I love being in the outdoors. One of my favorite things is watching dogs get to fulfill their purpose.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences:

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences is being able to say that I’m running Ramey Redington’s dog team in my rookie race. It’s a great honor to be able to run this dog team. If I had told myself as a kid that this was the team I’d be taking to Nome for the first time, you could not convince me that you are not lying, so it’s very special.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that being a dog musher is what I was born to do and what I want to continue doing for the rest of my life.
