Question 1: What is it about running sled dogs that you love so much?

What I love about running sled dogs is just watching the dogs do what they were bred to do and what they love to do. And I love being out in the wilderness with team of my family members, basically. The dogs are my family and my kids. I know that’s weird, but I think a lot of mushers feel that way. Those are my furry kids and I just love being able to spend time with them out in the woods and the adventures that we go on.

Question 2: What, who or how and when & why did you first get involved running the Iditarod?

I got involved running Iditarod because from the start of getting involved in mushing, I’ve been intrigued by the race and just the challenges that it takes to even get to the finish line. It’s not just about running your dogs a certain distance. It’s you’re battling mother nature and sleep deprivation and wild animals and whatever else life wants to throw at you out there. What I didn’t realize was all of those things were going to get thrown before the race too.

Question 3:  Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences running the Iditarod.

Memorable experience running this Iditarod is going to be the truck catching fire on our way down here, the dog truck. That’s definitely going down in history. So we put it out and we fixed it and we got here.

What in life do you know for sure?:

I know for sure that my dogs love me and they will do anything I ask of them pretty much, within reason, I suppose. Now, I know that is one thing I know for sure is that no matter what happens out there or in the future, my dogs are just always going to love me and support me. I’ve got a lot of friends that will say the same thing.
