What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with the Iditarod when my crazy neighbor, Janet Furr, called me up last night saying, “I need some help.” So, it’s been a great lead-in, it’s been quite a bit of fun.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today involved with the Iditarod because I had the time and it seemed like a really good thing to do to give back to the community and support this great race.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences:

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was about 25 years ago, when the Iditarod would actually start in Anchorage and make a stop in Eagle River. And my house is close enough that my wife and I would walk down with our children and we’d watch the dogs and the mushers come in and all that fanfare. It was quite a great experience to see.

What in life do you know for sure?

And the thing I know for sure in life is people matter. And if you lose track of that, you’re not paying attention.
