What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first got involved in the Iditarod in as part of the family with my father who was running the Iditarod. He ran three Iditarods, ’81, ’82, and ’85.

What was one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences?

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was actually, so I’m want to go a little different. Not only was I involved with Iditarod, I was involved with junior Iditarod and I met my future husband in junior Iditarod. And then he has since competed in 17 Iditarods. And I think one of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was being in Unalakleet during my husband’s rookie run in 2001, and being able to go out on the trail. Unalakleet is where my mother-in-law’s from.

What does the 50th running of the Iditarod mean to you?

Knowing that this is the 50th Iditarod really makes me feel proud. This is a great sport and it’s a great event and it keeps us connected with the dogs and the land.

What do you know for sure?:

What I know for sure in life is life’s too short. You have to be happy and you have to make it an adventure.
