Years involved with Iditarod: Well, I haven’t been totally involved. I’ve been a spectator since ’79.
Iditarod Role: This year I’m volunteering for as much as I can and my first time as a volunteer. So I’m just looking to really learn about the race because I’ve always been interested in it. I just haven’t had the opportunity yet.

What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?:

I got involved with Iditarod this year for the first time because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and being 62 I realized I better do it now or I might not be able to do it in the future.

What is your Why?.. Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?
I am here today and involved with Iditarod because I’m trying to learn as much as I can about it from start to finish. So right now I’m helping with the bagging of the food, putting it out for the different checkpoints, and eventually I’ll go out to Shaktoolik and unpack everything that we did here.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences?:

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was the year we did the Stanley moose, where we took it to all the different mushers on the start, the ceremonial start, and they all really enjoyed getting their pictures taken with my kids and Stan, flat Stanley I think it is, or flat Seymour? The moose.

What do you know for sure?:
What I know for sure in life is now that nothing’s ever going to stay the same. So if you’re going to do something, get out and do it now.
