What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with the Iditarod just as a spectator back in the early 2000s. And this year, we had moved away from Alaska and we came back. My daughter was really interested in mushing, and this year we decided to try to volunteer. And a friend of mine is a coordinator, and she was able to get me hooked up as a volunteer this year. So this is my first time.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I’m here today and involved with the Iditarod because first of all, the Iditarod is such a fun event with so many people celebrating dog mushing and the dogs and the people who have worked so hard to be here. I’m also here because my daughter, she and I are here together, and she’s really interested in this sport. And she’s kind of talked me into doing this as well, so that’s why I’m here today.

What do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is that nothing is absolutely for sure. You never know where life is going to take you. Didn’t think I would be here, and here I am today. I’m very excited to be here.
