What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I first became involved with, Iditarod, probably in year 2000, just covering the race for the ADN audience. It’s something that we cover heavily at Anchorage Daily News. That’s how a lot of people experience the races, through our coverage.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today and involved with Iditarod because it’s an important part of my job. I love to travel around Alaska and see the state. It’s fun to cover the race, but primarily my job is to report what happens. Because, like I mentioned, that’s how a lot of people experience the race.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was probably about 10 years ago in Ruby. It was just an incredible Northern Lights show on the Yukon River. To watch dog teams depart from Ruby down the Yukon River under the Northern Lights is one of the more special moments that I can remember covering the race.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life, I suppose, is that I don’t know what’s going to happen next. But I’m excited to find out what it is.
