What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved in the Iditarod when I had a college instructor that said that the class was too big, so that she normally would go around the class and ask what you’re interested in. So she’s like, “Instead, I’m going to tell you what I’m interested in.” And she talked very passionately about the Iditarod and how she followed it every year. Ever since then, I looked it up, and I’ve been following it as an armchair musher since.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I am here today and involved in the Iditarod because I love how much the mushers care about the dogs, and they really pour their heart and soul and passion into it, and it’s incredible to watch.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences:

One of the most memorable experiences in the Iditarod I have not experienced yet, so I’ll let you know on Saturday when I become an Iditarod rider.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is take every chance that you can to do anything that you can. Reach for the stars.
