What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?
I first became involved with Iditarod when I was a small child and my family’s friends all were running Iditarod races, and we were helping train as children.
What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?
I am here today and involved with the Iditarod because I am a Skwentna Sweetie. And there is nothing more that fills my heart each year than being with the Iditarod family and participating with the mushers, and the history of Alaska of the Iditarod.
Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.
One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was, as a child, I would help my best friend’s dad prepare for the Iditarod, and hang out with the Reddingtons as a child and prepare for the race. And now to be an adult and to go back home and share the memories that we have as a Skwentna Sweetie and the race, the generations that I continue to get to participate in this race.
What do you know for sure?
What I know for sure in life is a quote that I heard, “Pain reminds us we’re alive, love reminds us why.” In the Iditarod, I am continually reminded that love and passion is what we bring to this race each and every year.
