What is your Why?.. Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?:

I’M HERE BECAUSE I MOVED TO ALASKA 20 YEARS AGO. AND I RETIRED AND I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE DOGS. SO I ALWAYS VOLUNTEER TO BE OUT WITH THE DOGS.

Tell me about your most rewarding experience on Iditarod?:

WELL, YEARS AGO I MEANT WATTIE  MACDONALD ON IDITAROD. AND HE HAD A TEAM. AND HE’S ONE OF THE BEST MUSHERS I’VE EVER SEEN. HE LOVES HIS DOGS; HE STARTS WITH 16 AND HE FINISHES WITH 16. SO I EVEN SPONSORED HIM FOR TWO YEARS. SO THAT’S MY WHY.

What do you know for sure?

I KNOW THAT I’M RETIRED. I SPENT 30 YEARS IN THE NAVY. I CAME NORTH TO FIND SOLITUDE AND I FOUND IT. I LIVE IN TALKEETNA AND I LOVE IT HERE.
