What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?:
I got involved with the Iditarod with a friend of mine, Dave Mazloom, who is not able to be here today. And he’s very sick, so wishing him well. This took place where I just was heading to Alaska for the views and scenery and volunteering for my love for dogs and supporting Iditarod. To be a rider was just an incredible opportunity.
What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?
I’m here today and involved with the Iditarod because the support, the community, and what it means to Alaska and the riders here today, and what they attribute from the start of the Iditarod taking place 53 years ago and to what it is today.
Tell me about your most memorable Iditarod experiences?:
One of my most memorable Iditarod experience was meeting with my musher today, Justin, who is involved with his kennel in Fairbanks. And it’s an amazing cause for dogs. His team is from shelters and non-shelters. I think working with someone that is this involved in the community, especially in shelters, it’s amazing to see that.
What do you know for sure?:
What I know for sure in life is that I want to help people. And if that means taking any chances and opportunities to, whether it’s just an opportunity in life. I want to be able to help people, and this Iditarod was brought to by volunteering, and out of this has came an opportunity to be an Iditarider. So from that, I think it’s just what I know for sure is to always help people and always take an opportunity as it comes.
