What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

First became involved with Iditarod because the guy from the McGrath radio station who was covering it for the statewide network showed up at the station, at the network office to start planning for the race. And I got into an argument with him right away that they were covering dog mushing, but they weren’t covering news and that didn’t go over too well with him.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

Because there’s a whole crew of people from our Bethel Broadcast outlet here, public radio on public TV, KYUK, and I’m just helping them with getting their coverage together because we got some real contenders in the race this year.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences:

This one will be real simple. Was going down to Lake Spenard, and watching a dog drop plane land on the lake. And the dogs came out and then the pilot came out and he handed me a tape, which was the report from our reporter in the field to whom I was married.

What in life do you know for sure?

The world is big and we are small.
