What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?
I first became involved with Iditarod this year. I came up with my husband, Michael, who has been involved all of his life because of his parents, Mike and Pat Owens. We decided to come up this year and help out. This is the first year we were able to since we’ve moved away about six years ago.
What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?
I am here today and involved with Iditarod because my family that I have married into plays a major role in Iditarod, and we wanted to come up this year and be here to help out in whatever way we could.
Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.
One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was so far helping sort out drop bags, getting the dog lot set up. We had to make sure everything was getting out to Safety as it had gotten delayed. And we had mushers coming in pretty quick. And so we had to make sure we had all the bags and it was interesting being sure we found them all and getting them out there under the time pressure.
What in life do you know for sure?
What I know for sure in life is that your bonds with friends and family, friends that are closest family are always what’s going to be most important and what’s going to be there whatever changes.
