What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with Iditarod after speaking with Doctor Jim Canyon from Cedar Falls, friend of mine. He’s retired also and we spent several hours talking about his experience here and he encouraged me to join it because I was really interested in getting on the trail and kind of experiencing what he did.

What is your Why?.. Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?

I am here today involved with Iditarod because my goal is to get onto the trail. In order to get on the trail you have to get your foot in the door. So I volunteered for anything that was available in order to help me to reach my goal of getting on the trail. And I received a call from Sarah at the call center asking me if I’d like to come up and work. I said yes that I would.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences?

One of my most memorable Iditarod experience was, last night I was looking out my hotel window and there’s a moose directly below my window eating off of the tree and standing in about three foot of snow. We don’t get much of that in Iowa.

What do you know for sure?:

What I know for sure in life is your “what if’s” will never be answered if you don’t take a chance.
