What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with the Iditarod because the checkpoint was previously owned by my grandparents and I’d been coming out here since before I could walk. I was helping as a checker from probably the time I was 15 years old or 14 years old, and I’ve only missed a couple of Iditarods since then, and mostly the ones that started in Fairbanks or other places that didn’t come through our checkpoint.

What is your Why?..Why are you here today and involved in Iditarod?

I’m here and involved today with the Iditarod because I’ve been doing it all these years, and I like the dogs and I’ve gotten to know most of the mushers that have been doing it a long time. And now I have a son and I like to bring him out so that he can see it and he can enjoy it like I did when I was his age.

What do you know for sure?:

What I know for sure in life is that everything always changes and that what you think is sure, might not be.
