What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?
I got involved with Iditarod in 2012 when the Alaska Dispatch, which was an online only news site, needed a freelancer to cover it for them. I got the call, I got the job, and I was out on the trail within a few days.
What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?
I’m here today and involved with Iditarod because it’s truly unique. I loved to travel the trail and see Alaska through the lens of Iditarod, to see the teams going across this landscape, through these communities. It’s unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced.
Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.
One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was snow machining across the Rainy Pass through the Dalzell Gorge. I was in Rainy Pass at the lodge and got a ride from one of the guides there. We rode up to the Pass, spent the night in the cabin, and then the next morning we went out over the Pass. It was just one of the most remote and beautiful places along the trail and something that I’ve heard about for years, the Dalzell Gorge. To go through that on the ground was really amazing.
