What, who or how and when did you first get involved with the Iditarod?

I got involved with the Iditarod originally growing up in Anchorage, and going down to the ceremonial start and watching the mushers every year. As I got older, I started working as a dog handler for Scott Janssen. And since I’ve become a veterinarian, I’ve now been able to come out and fulfill a lifelong dream of working with these mushers and these incredible athletes on a yearly basis.

What is your Why? Why are you here TODAY and involved with the Iditarod?

I’m here today, involved with the Iditarod, because I love seeing rural parts of Alaska that you might not ordinarily see as well as be able to help the mushers and the dogs out on the trail to make sure that they can perform at their best.

Tell me about just one of your most memorable Iditarod experiences.

One of my most memorable Iditarod experiences was after growing up and watching the ceremonial start, growing up as a young child, actually being able to be involved in walking down Fourth Avenue, along with the mushers and the dogs.

What in life do you know for sure?

What I know for sure in life is nothing’s certain, and you need to go through it with a good attitude and a sense of humor.
